When setting out to take pictures for the theme, I realized that I was always looking to show decay of nature in very stereotypical and comprehensive ways. For example, a dead leaf floating on a lake and carrying a seed to symbolize the cycle of life. However, I think we need to admit how little we understand nature which also leads to greater respect of it. The branch in the river has a mystical air through the water around it and we don’t really see what is going on. There is some beauty to the whole scene of decomposition.
